As previously reported, sadly the Remembrance event in Ponteland has had to be cancelled this year due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.  The Town Council wrote out to all organisations in September asking them to support the Royal British Legion by buying a wreath and laying it between the 8th and 14th November at the War Memorial.  We will be arranging for a photographer to take photos on the 17th November and will post these on our website and Facebook page.

We have written to the schools asking them to encourage their students to put pictures of Poppies in their windows in the week of Remembrance.  Here are links to a template to colour in or a picture from the RBL website: https://www.poppyshop.org.uk/products/download-a-remembrance-poppy or https://www.poppyshop.org.uk/products/download-a-remembrance-poppy?variant=32904880193590 .  Can we ask others to please join in and put something in your windows in honour of this important event.  Send us a photo if you can.

We are also asking people to join the Royal British Legion campaign to get people to stand on their doorsteps at 11am on November 11th and take part in a nationwide two-minute silence.  We hope you can participate.

You will notice the large Poppy displays in Ponteland that are being installed on the 2nd November – we are very pleased with the results and hope you agree they look wonderful.  Thanks to all of those who put so much hard work into knitting or crocheting Poppies and also assembling the displays.  Your help is very much appreciated.

Many thanks to everyone at Ponteland Private Nursery who have sent us images of their wonderful poppy creations, an example of which we are displaying here.
