Sufi 2

South Ward Councillor

Sufi Ahmed was born in Derai, in the Sunamgonj district of Bangladesh; he was a student in year 10 when he moved to the UK to settle with his parents.
Arriving in the UK in 1981, Sufi was determined to embark on a career in business by acquiring all the financial and business practice skills he would need to achieve success. He started work in junior positions in the catering trade he watched, listened and learned from his employers.
By 1988 Sufi was ready to branch out on his own. His business career since then has been a story of hard work and determination, combined with an instinctive ability to recognize and create successful business opportunities. His rise in the competitive commercial world of the UK has been spectacular.
Sufi has lived and worked in Ponteland for the last 30 years. He has created many jobs especially for younger people. He lives with his family (wife, four children, mother, three brothers and their families), on a converted farm, close to Ponteland village. His interests lie in sports (cricket and football) and community work. He has been involved in many charity organisations and is particularly passionate about helping the local community thrive.
