MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL HELD IN THE TOWN COUNCIL OFFICES, PONTELAND ON 1 FEBRUARY 2017

179. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

An apology for absence was received from Councillor Dodd.

180. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

There were no declarations.

181. PLANNING APPLICATION 16/04576/CCD – PONTELAND LEISURE
CENTRE, CALLERTON LANE, PONTELAND
The Town Council was asked to consider their response to the above outline planning application with all matters reserved for the demolition of the existing leisure centre and replacement with a new leisure centre, library, Primary School and Secondary school.

A draft response had been circulated. The Clerk referred to one amendment that would be made in relation to the terms of the Town Council’s lease on the play area and skate park.

Councillor Varley asked if it would be possible to include some reference to Policy 44 of the Core Strategy which related to the former railway line. If time permitted then a reference would be included.

RESOLVED – The Council’s response be submitted to the County Council subject to the amendments listed above being made.

182. PLANNING APPLICATION 16/04672/OUTES – LAND NORTH AND
WEST OF DARRAS HALL LIMESTONE LANE

The above application related to a ‘hybrid’ planning application seeking: a) Outline Planning Permission with all matters reserved for an exemplar Garden Village comprising up to 2000 dwellings and space/facilities for employment, commercial, agricultural and leisure uses and associated infrastructure; and b) full planning permission for i) Strategic Flood alleviation measures and ii) the demolition of a small number of buildings.

A suggested response to the above application had been circulated to Councillors.

RESOLVED – The Council’s response be submitted to the County Council.

183. LAND ADJACENT TO CALLERTON LANE – PROPOSED
DEVELOPMENT BY HELLENS

Councillors had been informed that there was a consultation taking place on a proposal by the above company for a development on a site off Willow Way. The consultation was from 27 January to 3 February 2017 with a drop in session being held at the Memorial Hall on Thursday 2 February from 2.00 p.m.
Councillors could attend this session from 1.30 p.m.
