Ponteland Police Station move

Moving Office Doormat

Officers at Ponteland Police Station have re-located a short distance to new accommodation in the town.

From Monday, February 2, 2015, police officers are based at Ponteland Community Fire Station in Callerton Lane, sharing office facilities with the fire service.

This move is expected to have very little impact on the local community as the new permanent base, like the old police building, will not be open to the public.

It does mean we are maintaining a presence in the community and providing an office base for neighbourhood officers to use and work from in Ponteland.

This move comes after further Government cuts mean Northumbria Police has to close outdated and expensive to maintain buildings and work in buildings with reduced running costs.

The Chief Constable has committed to guaranteeing that no police services will be re-located until accessible bases have been found within the community for officers to work from.

We want to make sure that residents are aware of what is happening.

Local people are likely to see officers going into and out of the fire station during the course of their duties and wondered what was happening.

Officers are in regular contact with local people and have been keeping them updated about this move.

We will continue to remind people that the best way to contact an officer is to call 101, or in an emergency to dial 999.
