MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING
23rd August 2016

Present: Councillor Mrs S Johnson (in the Chair), Councillors A Varley and Mrs E Thompson.

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Mrs L Noble, Mrs C Caisley and Mrs C Greenwell

1. PLANNING APPLICATIONS

A list of planning applications received since the previous Committee meeting had been circulated

1.1 Application No: 16/02645/FUL Location: 3 Pembroke Drive, Darras Hall NE20 9HS
Proposal: New Gate and Piers Applicant: John Wigham Case Officer: Strategic and Urban Dev Reply Date: 29/8/16

COMMENT :- The Committee can recall previous objections to intrusive gates and piers in similar open aspects have been upheld from NCC and we hope NCC would consider this application in the same light and demonstrate consistency.

1.3 Application No: 16/02655/FUL Location: 12 The Beeches NE20 9Z Proposal: First floor side extension and provision of first floor veranda to the rear. Applicant: Mr David Priestly
Case Officer: Strategic and Urban Dev Man Team Reply Date: 1/9/16

COMMENT:- The committee feel that the new extension should be rendered in keeping with the rest of the existing house to maintain the quality of the street scene.

The Committee made no comments about the other 8 applications considered.

2. DECISIONS: APPLICATIONS AND APPEALS; WITHDRAWN APPLICATIONS

2.1 DECISION 16/02161/FUL : 21 Woodlands Ponteland NE20 9EU – Proposed Family room extension and ground floor bedroom. Permission granted under delegated powers on 16th August 2016
The Committee had made no comment about this application

2.2 DECISION 16/02169/FUL: 133 Eastern Way Darras Hall, Ponteland NE20 9RH – Proposed Construction of bay window to side elevation
Permission granted under delegated powers on 10th Aug 2016
The Committee had made no comment about this application.

2.3 DECISION 16/02061/FUL: 209 Darras Road, Darras Hall, Ponteland NE20 9AF – Permission granted under delegated powers on 17 May 2016. Demolition of existing garage with new tandem garage built to east side of house, new front boundary hedge and widened driveway access and conversion of existing bungalow into two storey house with upper extension.

The Committee commented :- agreed with the proposal, although it is to be commented that the committee would like to protect the privacy of neighbours at 209a Darras Road and ask for obscure glass to be considered for the Void/Atrium glass space.

3. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

3.1 Medburn Map. S Hedley produced a small version of a map and delivered 3 very larger size ones to the office just after the meeting. C Thompson is also to investigate a more up to date version from Ordinance survey.
