MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING
20th September 2016

Declarations of Interest: Councillor Mrs S Johnson declared an interest in application no 16/02944/FUL, and took no part in the decision on this item.

1. PLANNING APPLICATIONS

A list of planning applications received since the previous Committee meeting had been circulated

1.1 Application No: 16/02944/FUL Location: Land North of Clickemin Farmhouse, Ponteland NE20 9BQ Proposal: Proposed 2 storey detached dwelling Applicant: Mr Sam Newbury
Case Officer: Strategic and Urban Dev Reply Date: 23/9/16

OBJECTION :- The Committee feel that the proposed dwelling is imposing in both scale, height and ‘contemporary’ design. Whilst the proposal is similar in size to the recently renovated Clickemin Farm, the height, size and design is in stark contrast to the traditional nature of properties to the north and south of its boundaries. Furthermore the proximity of the proposed 3 level dwelling to the older lower level properties means that houses to the North will be overlooked.
It is not clear from the submitted layout whether both dwellings will have gated access or shared gated access. Alterations to the wall at the access point should not affect the parking and manoeuvrability of vehicles at the existing dwelling. It should be noted that it is unacceptable for vehicles to reverse onto the A696 as it is contra to highway safety.

Finally, the Committee wish to add that pavements and verges should not be used to park construction vehicles, store building materials or equipment on the highway in the interest of public safety.

1.2 Application No: 16/02988/FUL Location: Land North of Dyke House, The Avenue, Medburn Proposal: Construction of 2 new residential dwellings Applicant: Mr & Mrs Andrew Young Case Officer: Strategic and Urban Dev Reply Date: 29/9/16

COMMENT :- The proposed house heights for the proposed 2 new residential dwellings, are in excess of previous applications and conditions.

The Committee made no comments about the other 6 applications considered.

2.1 DECISION 16/02337/FUL: 3 Fairney Edge Ponteland, NE20 9EF – proposed single storey kitchen/sunroom extension.
