MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING

19th December 2017

Present:  Councillor Mrs S Johnson (in the Chair), Mr S Ahmed, and Councillor Mr Thomas Edwards-Clay.

 

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors: Mrs K Woodrow, Mrs C Caisley and Karen Overbury.

 

  1. PLANNING APPLICATIONS

 

A list of planning applications received since the previous Committee meeting had been circulated

 

Application No: 17/04440/FUL, Location: 8 Wentworth Court, Darras Hall, Ponteland, NE20 9PR

Proposal: Demolition of existing dwelling and construction of a new detached dwelling with an integral double garage, associated boundary wall, a gate and landscaping.

The Committee made the following objection: The Committee believe that under Policy PNP 2: High Quality and Inclusive Design, the design and materials of the proposed property are incongruous and out of keeping with the street scene.  The boundary wall is out of character with the with the green aspect afforded by the other properties in the street.  There are concerns that the volume of construction traffic within such a small cul-de-sac will have an adverse affect on the area and other residents.

Application No: 17/04483/COU, Location: 1 Abacus House, Meadowfield House, Ponteland, NE20 9SD, Proposal: Change of use from office to class D2 for a private health, fitness and nutrition centre.

The Committee made the following comment : The Committee cannot reach a decision on this application as they require more information on the type of business, users per hour and parking requirements.  They have concerns over the volume of traffic on this already congested part of the industrial estate. The Committee has also requested an extension on the expiry date and they will re assess this application in due course. 

The Committee made no comments about the other 2 applications considered.

 

  1. DECISIONS: APPLICATIONS AND APPEALS; WITHDRAWN APPLICATIONS

 

2.1       DECISION:  17/03791/FUL, 109a Darras Road, Ponteland, NE20 9PQ. Proposed front and rear dormer enlargement and single storey rear extension.

 

Permission granted under delegated powers on 13th Dec 2017. The Committee had made no comment about this application.

 

2.2       DECISION:  17/03801/FUL, 28 Woodside, Ponteland, NE20 9JA. Proposed internal and external façade alternations/ rear and side extension and new garage with accommodation at rear,

 

Permission granted under delegated powers on 13th Dec 2017. The Committee had made no comment about this application.

 

  1. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

 

3.1       It was agreed that the representation be withdrawn for the licence at Bella and Frannie’s tea room on Broadway.
