MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING 10 NOVEMBER 2015

(MEETING RE-ARRANGED FROM 3 NOVEMBER 2015 DUE TO LACK OF A QUORUM)

1. PLANNING APPLICATIONS

A list of planning applications received since the previous Committee meeting had been circulated

1.1 15/03510/COU: Land South of 201 Darras Road, Darras Hall, Ponteland NE20 9AF –Change of use of parcel of land to the rear (south) of 201 Darras Road from public open space to private garden

OBJECTION: The application indicates that the current owners and/or agents for the land are Green Belt Group Ltd. It is their aim that all open space layout within a development owned or maintained by them, exist for the benefit of everyone on the development. The application makes it quite clear that the applicant intends to fence this area off as a private garden thus preventing public amenity and use.
Installation of a private fence will negatively impact the existing residents of The Drey, in terms of both visual amenity as well as usage.
Furthermore, the area of land contains a minor watercourse acting to help drain the surrounding land; any removal of trees and other vegetation could impact on the ability of the area to drain and cause surface water problems.

The Committee made no comments about the other 9 applications considered.

2. DECISIONS: APPLICATIONS AND APPEALS; WITHDRAWN APPLICATIONS

2.1 DECISION 15/02393/FUL: 124 Western Way Darras Hall Ponteland NE20 9LY – Ground floor orangery/vestibule extension to rear.
Permission granted under delegated powers on 22 October 2015.
The Committee had made no comment about this application.

2.2 DECISION 15/02898/FUL: West Farm Cottage, West Farm Mews, Prestwick NE20 9TX – Construction of two storey and single storey extension with associated works
Permission granted under delegated powers on 22 October 2015.
The Committee had made the following comment about this application: Is this proposal acceptable/excessive given the location in the Green Belt?

2.3 DECISION 15/02874/FUL: 9A The Rise, Darras Hall, Ponteland NE20 9LJ – Erection of front entrance porch, extensions to front of existing attached garage, kitchen/dining and utility extension to rear, and insertion of dormers in front and rear roof slopes.
Permission granted under delegated powers on 22 October 2015.
The Committee had made no comment about this application.

2.4 DECISION 15/02946/FUL: 55 Errington Road Darras Hall Ponteland NE20 9LA – Proposed new roof to form first floor bedrooms and bathrooms and rear extension and entrance gates
Permission granted under delegated powers on 28 October 2015.
The Committee had made no comment about this application.

2.5 DECISION 15/02976/ADE: Highway Verge Entrance Of Junction To Street Houses (A696) Ponteland Northumberland NE20 9BT – Advertisement Consent: Installation of 2no. non-illuminated signs advertising Goodfellows Estate Agency to be positioned above the existing ‘Penny Pieces’ signs with a gap of 6 cms
