1.         PLANNING APPLICATIONS

A list of planning applications received since the previous Committee meeting had been circulated.

The Committee made no comments on the 5 applications considered.

13/02075/CON:  Belville House, 43 – 45 Bell Villas, Ponteland NE20 9BD – Demolition of existing office and portal frame structure with boundary wall

A copy of comments had been received from Muriel Sobo to NCC Planning objecting to and commenting on the application, pointing out many inaccuracies in the information provided.

2.1       DECISION 13/01293/FUL: Medwyn/Westmacot, Street Houses, Ponteland

NE20 9BT – Demolition of 2 no. semi-detached dwellings and construction of a three storey, 46 bedroom hotel with ancillary car parking areas and access roads.

Permission refused under delegated powers on 9 August 2013.

The Committee had made an observation about possible future parking issues.

2.2       DECISION 13/00642/FUL: 44 Dunsgreen, Ponteland NE20 9EJ – Proposed dining room extension and first floor extension over to form additional bedroom accommodation

2.3       DECISION 13/01584/FUL: 31 Bell Villas, Ponteland NE20 9BD – Change of use from C3 residential to D1 non residential Institutions (Dental Practice) with a new entrance porch and vehicular access and parking proposed

Permission refused under delegated powers on 13 August 2013.

The Committee had made an objection on the grounds that such a change would lead to traffic problems and would have a detrimental effect on the conservation area and the wildlife corridor.

The Committee had made an objection on the grounds that this proposal would exacerbate the existing unsatisfactory lighting situation and cause excessive light pollution.

The Committee had made a comment requesting that a condition be attached restricting the conversion to remain single storey to maintain openness; also, pointing out that the lack of documentation did not satisfy policy.

3.1       19 Merton Way, Ponteland – Gill’s Chippy

NCC had advised that no action was to be taken in connection with the flue and that the signs are deemed permitted development.

3.2       13/02039/PA: Eland House, Eland Lane, Ponteland NE20 9TR – Change of use from offices to residential

NCC had stated that the prior approval of the Local Planning Authority would be required for the transport and highways impact of the development and the flooding risks on the site.

Ponteland Town Council had not been consulted about this application.
